Fly to Lima, then Cusco and take a bus to Abancay but hop off and take a taxi to Cachora.
Highly recommend staying a night at Casa Nostra in Cachora.

The remote, mountaintop ruins of an ancient Inca city with temples, palaces & terraces. There was one park official there who collected my ticket purchased at the trailhead. There were probably only 4-5 other hikers viewing at the same time.
